Parc et Château d'Amblie

Château d'Amblie

Experience "la vie de château" and its history

Open daily for summer visits in July & August

An exceptional domain
in Normandy

Welcome to Château d’Amblie.

The history of the estate stretches far back. In the 17th century, it was a seigneurial manor. Rebuilt around 1750 by the Coupesarte family, it became the property of our ancestor Jean-François de Cairon de la Varende in 1767.

Deeply transformed over the centuries, from a remarkable neoclassical château to a reception center for thousands of refugees in July 1944, Château d’Amblie is today a family estate that opens its doors to visitors, inviting everyone to experience “la vie de château.”

A rural and natural heritage to discover

Explore the park and discover majestic trees, including a designated Remarkable Tree, as well as authentic rural buildings that illustrate daily life in the 18th century in the Bessin region.

The château’s cider press was restored in 2024 thanks to the Heritage Lottery (Loto du Patrimoine) led by Stéphane Bern.

What our visitors say about us

We were charmed and didn't notice time flying by. Interiors and outdoors are exceptional, especially the chapel which was our favorite part of the visit.

The park and the château are a must-see. The trees are remarkable, the cider press recently renovated ... the château is welcoming with spacious reception halls, a lovely chapel, an ice cellar ...

Beautiful estate and grounds. Our visit was conducted by the owner of the château who regaled us by telling stories of her family and life at the château. A very pleasant moment spent together.
